Located in the center of beautiful Grand County, Colorado, our ministry setting offers many outdoor recreation opportunities that our members and friends enjoy. Seasonally we ski, hike, bike, fish, golf, canoe and kayak. Sometimes we gather in organized events, like our Thursday Ski Together Days at Winter Park Resort. Our Men’s Group plans a few backpack outings each summer. We hike to the Broome Hut on Berthoud Pass for a couple nights in mid-summer.
We offer a week of Day Camp for children in our communities in partnership with Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp, an outdoor ministry of our Rocky Mountain Synod. Our Pastor accompanies children and youth each summer who spend a week at Sky Ranch learning about and enjoying God’s marvelous creation. Then there are the many times members find themselves connecting on their favorite trail, or on a stream with fly rod in hand; boating on one of our numerous lakes; looking for moose or enjoying the sight of elk in rut in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Ski Together Days
During the months of January through March members and friends of LOTV are invited to gather at 10AM at the lowers doors of Snoasis at Winter Park Resort. We make a couple runs together and then often divide into groups based on skill level or terrain interest before rendezvousing for lunch at an agreed upon location. It is great fellowship and fun!
Day Camp
Lord of the Valley partners with Sky Lutheran Camp to offer a weeklong childcare program that is faith based and filled with activity. Sky Ranch is a camp of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America locate west of Ft Collins, Colorado. They share a team of three college age young adults who are trained and equipped to lead the week of activities. Through worship (active songs, prayers and skits), Bible study, games, arts and crafts, and nature study, the week’s theme is explored and lived out. This week is open to children from Kindergarten through fifth grade. Middle and Senior High you and adults from the congregation provide additional help and leadership.
Backpacking / Hiking
Our Men’s Ministry plans three outing each summer for backpacking adventure. These three day events include a day’s hike into a wilderness area in Colorado where a base camp is set up. The second day may include a day hike to a high peak, or some fishing. The third day we come back out and head home.
Sky Ranch
Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp is one of two Camps in the Rocky Mountain Synod of the ELCA. We encourage youth and children to enjoy a week (or half week for younger children) at the sleep over camp that is located just north of Rocky Mountain National Park.
